Hi — I'm Kevin. I've been playing percussion for over 40 years, with a degree in Music Education from the University of Lowell. For 34 of them I was a percussion instructor and arranger, working with competitive marching bands, drum corps, percussion ensembles, and private students. I've since “retired” from that life of throwing drumsticks at kids to take up kicking soccer balls at them — you can see that work at SoccerCoachKW. The videos here are how I keep teaching drums.
I usually use an iPhone (usually a current model) and/or GoPro Hero 10 to record the videos, with a clip-on mic for narration, along with MainStage, Logic Pro, QuickTime, Audio Hijack, EZDrummer, BFD, and Superior Drummer to record and edit the drum sounds on a Mac mini. I edit my videos in either Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
I'm currently playing an Alesis Nitro Mesh Special Edition kit, which I've expanded with extra pads and triggers (I have a video on that!) while waiting to build a new drum room at our new house to hold my large Pearl MX acoustic kit (seen in some of my older videos). Thanks!
